Understanding mobile experience explains why users in Colombia switch mobile operators

In this new analysis, Opensignal has found that Colombian smartphone users that switched their mobile operator saw a significantly worse mobile experience than the average for their original operator before they switched. These Leavers spent more time without a signal and less time connected to 4G. Also, we found that while Leavers sometimes improved their experience after switching to a new operator, it depended on which operator they joined.

The quality of mobile network experience helps explain churn in Brazil

Opensignal has looked at the mobile experience of our smartphone users that changed their mobile operator in Brazil. In this analysis, we found that those Leavers that switched operators, or churned, generally had a significantly worse mobile experience before they switched, compared with the average experience of all users on their original mobile operator’s network. For example, on Opensignal data, on all four operators — Claro, Oi, TIM and Vivo — Leavers saw lower 4G Availability and a greater amount of time with no signal before switching.

Indonesian users who changed operators had a below average mobile experience

Opensignal has analyzed mobile subscriber churn in Indonesia and found that our users who changed their mobile operator on average had a worse mobile experience before they switched compared to the typical experience on their original network. Moreover, all our users that we have seen switching mobile operators had a better experience on their new mobile network. Our users who left 3, Indosat, Smartfren and XL on average spent less time without a mobile signal on their new network.
